    * The Subaru XV Crosstrek is an exhilarating alternative to the compact SUVs you are used to seeing. It features a dynamic and aggressive design, with aerodynamic lines, prominent over-fenders, gorgeous wheels, and hawk-eye headlights. Uneven terrain is a breeze with the Crosstrek since it has 8.7 inches of ground clearance complimented by rugged plastic cladding on the lower body panels. Plus, its maximum cargo volume of 51.9 cubic feet gives you plenty of space for your gear. It is offered with a 2.0L SUBARU BOXER engine with 148 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque. The XV Crosstrek comes standard with a 5-Speed manual transmission. However, as an option you can get it with the Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission, which is the standard on the Limited. The Lineartronic CVT for an EPA estimated 26 MPG City and 34 MPG hwy, and it has a manual mode where you can use the paddle shifters for exciting precision driving. A Hybrid trim is available which adds an electric motor for total horsepower of 160 and 34/30 cty/hwy MPG. All trims come standard with the incredible Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The athletic grip of the XV Crosstrek makes taking corners exciting, and it has responsive handling that keeps your drive enjoyable. Inside, you will sit in comfort on adjustable, heated front seats. All models give you a tilt/telescopic steering wheel with integrated controls for music, Bluetooth, and cruise control. The touch-screen audio system includes CD player, HD Radio, auxiliary jack, USB port, iPod control, hands-free phone connectivity, and Bluetooth audio streaming. The Hybrid Touring models adds a 7-inch screen with Voice-Activated GPS Navigation but this can be had as an option on Premium and Limited models. Source: The Manufacturer Summary

    • Reliable and Capable, but lacking in Technology

The good: - Subaru Reliability, no problems at all over 40K miles. - Wonder control in poor weather thanks to the AWD. - Steering has never gone out of alignment. - Tire wear very even, still on original equipment. The acceptable: - Real world fuel economy is close to the sticker. I do mostly highway driving with approximately 26 mpg. - Interior space is good. I am 60 and I have no trouble in legroom or headroom. Rear seats are ok for my size. - Cargo room is acceptable. I very recently took a multi-day trip with myself, wife, and two year old son. Dont expect to easily fit everything if camping or hiking, youll want some external storage for that. The bad: - The transmission has a poor set up. First gear ratio is too high and final gear ratio (fifth) is too low. - Tow rating is abysmal at 2,000 lbs. Thats not really enough for anything more than just some farm chores. The awful: - The ride is ok, but easily unsettled by a passing vehicle or by following a 18-wheeler. You must stay extremely alert at higher (65+ mph) highway speeds. - The seat belts lock up much too easily and often stay locked longer than helpful as well. A major nuisance. - The entertainment system is the worst part of the car. The sound quality is very poor. The hands free system is frustrating. The menus are basic AND unintuitive. Occasionally the bluetooth fails to connect completely.

I have this car for two years and I’m very satisfied with my Crosstrek. It’s fun to drive. It’s has enough power when you need it, ALL WHEEL DRIVE standard is awesome, NO SLIPPERY ROAD that it cannot handle. Very stable car, you can feel the grip of the tires on the road. Overall I love this car! It’s got a lot of room, a combination of SUV and a car, easy to drive and does not need a lot of space to park.

Burns the oil. Done a couple back to back 2,000 trips and at about the 3,000 mark my oil light came on. Pulled over and the stick read bone dry. Never had this happen with an almost new vehicle. Bought new, but noticed this at about the 3 or 4 year point after owning the vehicle. I had been doing regular oil changes well before the recommended point, so may have been losing oil much sooner than when I first noticed. I took it in to check out and the dealership wanted me to do an Oil Consumption test. Well, after about a week into the test, I decided to check the oil level. It looked like they put an extra quart in my Crosstrek. Well, I went ahead and drove and took the car back at the end of the test. The maintenance tech said I used no oil. What a bunch of BS from Subaru. I will not be buying from this company again.
