Got some kids and don’t know what to do with them today? There are some kid-friendly activities you want to take part in very close to us here in Ottawa, OH. So load up the kids in your Chevy Suburban and head out to one of these great spots this afternoon.

Ottawa Metro Park

At 2632 Ada Rd in Lima, Ottawa Metro Park provides all kinds of outdoor recreation opportunities over nearly 300 acres of land. You can boat on the lake, stay overnight at the campground, have a picnic, and take part in all kinds of other activities. The swimming beach is 450 feet long and has a surf slide, a mermaid fountain, a water fountain, and a water trampoline. There are park rangers and lifeguards, as well as covered picnic areas.

Kids under age two are free, and kids between three and 12 can get in for $3 if they are Allen county residents and $3.50 if they are not. The prices are $5 dollars and $5.50 for those over age 13. The swimming area is open from noon until 7 PM, and there is also a sand volleyball court, horseshoe pits, a frisbee golf course, an outdoor amphitheater, as well as children’s play equipment.

Pandora Park

This Park has absolutely fantastic children’s play equipment, and your kids will be happy to spend hours here. The park is open from 7 AM until 9 PM daily. You will also be happy to know that there’s a shaded area for parents to sit in!

There are bathrooms available, a shelter house with picnic tables, and sophisticated play equipment the kids over 12 years old can actually really enjoy. There’s a well-maintained softball field, a big fort for the kids to plan, and a single entrance so you can feel confident about letting your kids explore freely.

The Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm

At Township Rd 7-L in Pandora, this farm is an amazing place for kids to learn all about nature and farming. They will have a blast here, and the staff is very knowledgeable and friendly, ready to educate you about anything they do, from raising donkeys and pigs to attracting butterflies and tending the garden. They also hold regular educational events, so it’s worth keeping track of their blog so you know what they’re up to next. Visit the Quarry Farm Nature Preserve and Conservation Farm to learn more!

Putnam County’s Haunted Cornfield

You can only visit this cool place from 7:30 PM until 11 PM on Friday and Saturday nights, and it’s probably not where you want to take the very littlest kids. However, if you have some older kids who are bored with playground equipment, this could be a really fun outing. Putnam County’s Haunted Cornfield itself contains a lot of scares, and it’s worth the price of admission: but we don’t want to tell you too much about it, lest we ruin the surprise!

If you’re looking for a reliable new ride to take the kids around in, come see the selection we have to offer at Chevrolet of Ottawa.
